We make software that helps businesses sell more.
Nutshell is dedicated to helping sales reps win more deals and solving the most critical challenge of CRMs: motivating sales teams to embrace the product. We’re passionate about our customers’ success, and we love finding new ways to take the frustrations out of selling.
Nutshell CEO Joe Malcoun is a veteran early-stage tech investor with deep roots in Ann Arbor’s entrepreneurial community. A three-time graduate of the University of Michigan—holding a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy and a Finance and Strategy MBA—Malcoun is also a co-founder of Cahoots, a co-working space in downtown Ann Arbor that is intended to serve as a center of gravity for the city’s blossoming tech scene.
Nutshell Co-Founder/CTO Andy Fowler has led engineering and product development at Nutshell since the very first commit in August 2009. Prior to co-founding Nutshell, he was the co-founder and Principal at Paradigm Reborn, a web development and strategy agency. When he’s not working to build beautiful software, you can find Andy flying small airplanes from the Ann Arbor Municipal Airport.
Our Story
Nutshell was born from years of frustration with complicated, ugly, and expensive CRM software that required full-time admins to operate. Our vision was to create a sales platform that was simple enough for anyone to use, and more in line with the intuitive app experiences that SaaS users were coming to expect.
After bringing on CTO Andy Fowler to spearhead the product’s development, Nutshell launched to acclaim in 2010, and since then, we’ve helped tens of thousands of businesses get organized and sell smarter.
Under the leadership of CEO Joe Malcoun since 2014, Nutshell is now a category leader in everything from sales process automation to customer support, and boasts a wide range of business software integrations that allow sales reps to do all their selling from a single tool.
Nutshell is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where it’s a central force in the city’s thriving technology and business communities. The company is backed by Plymouth Growth Partners, CKM Capital, Cahoots Capital, and Detroit Innovate.
